Ocean microplastics have attracted increasing scientific, political and public concern as this phenomenon  impacts the whole value chain of aquatic products, interfering with ecosystems processes and contaminating the food and feed chain.

This conference, organised in the framework of “bring European Maritime Day to your country” and supported by DG-MARE, will provide an opportunity for policy makers, civil society, scientific academia, food industry representatives to foster a multi-stakeholder debate and to highlight the potential of bio-based plastics as a sustainable aternative to tackle microplastics pollution.
